Scooby-Doo is an American animated cartoon franchise, comprising several animated television series produced from 1969 to the present day. The original series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, was created for Hanna-Barbera Productions by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears in 1969. This Saturday-morning cartoon series featured four teenagers—Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers—and their talking brown Great Dane named Scooby-Doo, who solve mysteries involving supposedly supernatural creatures through a series of antics and missteps.
Hanna-Barbera introduced a new character in 1979 called Scrappy-Doo, Scooby's nephew. However, this turned out terribly since fans of Scooby-Doo complained about how obnoxious and overconfident he was, and generally taking over the spotlight, and was no longer seen since 1988 (excluding the 2002 live-action film). There's even a TV trope named after him called The Scrappy, which refers to a generally disliked character.
Scooby-Doo was a popular franchise, and PhantomStrider personally thinks there's way too many shows, movies and specials (it's very repetitive in his opinion), and he considered the remakes his personal least favorite cartoon remake, and gained a lot of controversy for being way too harsh on it, and some even claimed what he said was hypocritical since other franchises like Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry had movies, TV shows, specials, etc., yet he doesn't care about those. Fortunately, he makes it up in later reviews, including reviewing it in a much calmer way in his Top 5 Cartoons I Hate That Everyone Likes, and even saying in his dishonorable mentions in Worst Cartoon Live Action Remakes "If you do like it, good for you. It's just not my cup of tea personally."
